Senior Flood Engineer Job in Sydney, NSW

About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
• Degree qualifications in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering.
• Approximately 5+ years’ experience in flood engineering, hydrology, or water resources.
• Strong experience using DRAINS and TUFLOW software.
• Demonstrated capability in hydrologic modelling tools such as RORB, WBNM, or XP-RAFTS.
• Experience preparing Flood Impact and Risk Assessments (FIRAs) and Flood Emergency Response Plans (FERPs).
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to manage projects, deadlines, and stakeholder expectations effectively.
• Experience with HEC-RAS, MUSIC, or 12d will be highly regarded.
• A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving.

About the Role
In this position, you will be responsible for:
• Delivering flood impact and flood risk assessments for a variety of development and infrastructure projects.
• Developing, calibrating, and reviewing hydrologic and hydraulic flood models.
• Preparing technical reports and supporting documentation for planning and approval processes, including major development applications.
• Producing Flood Emergency Response Plans and related flood management documentation.
• Providing technical input across multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Liaising with clients, councils, government agencies, and project stakeholders.
• Supporting junior engineers and contributing to team knowledge sharing.
• Assisting in identifying innovative and practical flood management solutions.
