Civil Design Engineer

Location: Newcastle Office

Summary
Our client is seeking a qualified and motivated Civil Design Engineer with at least 5 years of Australian experience to join their Newcastle-based team. You’ll work autonomously on urban development projects, spanning education, residential, mixed-use, and commercial sectors - designing essential civil elements such as roads, stormwater systems, carparks, pavements, and driveways.

Alongside technical delivery, you’ll collaborate closely with engineers, clients, and architects, mentor junior engineers, and have the opportunity to grow into a leadership role while receiving excellent support from senior management.

About You
• Qualified Professional: Civil Engineering Degree is essential, with a minimum of 5 years’ civil design engineering experience gained in Australia.
• Work Rights: Australian citizen or permanent resident (mandatory).
• Independent & Experienced: Confident working autonomously while delivering high-quality design outcomes.
• Collaborative & Supportive: Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable engaging with engineers, clients, and architects and committed to mentoring and supporting two junior engineers.
• Technically Proficient: Skilled in MUSIC and DRAINS software. Bonus if you’re familiar with AutoCAD, 12d, or Civil 3D.

• Project Delivery: Contribute to civil works for urban development projects supporting buildings across education, residential, mixed-use, and commercial sectors.
• Design Scope: Deliver designs for roads, on-site detention (OSD), water-sensitive urban design (WSUD), stormwater/drainage systems, carparks, pavements, and driveways.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance, training, and support to junior engineers, contributing to their growth and development.
• Career Growth: Supported by a strong senior management team, with opportunities to expand responsibilities and step into leadership as the team grows.
